Welcome to my blog about having children with food allergies and how to feed them!

Welcome to my blog! Just to warn you I'm new to the blogging world so please be patient.

I've started this blog as a way to connect and hopefully help other moms' who understand what it is like to have children with "food disabilities", meaning kids with food allergies. I just happen to have more than one "food disability" in my home. My 6 year old boy last Jan. was diagnosed with celiac disease after several years of symptoms. Many of you can relate to the frustration of the process of getting an acurate diagnosis. But, I also have a 4 year old who is allergic to dairy and eggs. Did I mention he also has outdoor allergies and asthma? I remember what it was like that first time trying to come up with a meal plan that would work for 2 difficult food allergies and yet be tasty for the 1 child and 3 adults in our home that had no food allergies. Did I mention one of those adults is my husband who is the pickiest man I've ever known. He only uses BBQ sauce or ketchup to flavor anything and doesn't eat fruit or vegetables unless it's corn or potatoes. So being the generous soul and wanna be book author/advacote I thought I would share our familys' story and experiences with you. So let's talk. Let's share our favorite kid/allergy friendly places to eat, our best "Oh know I'm out of gluten free bread"lunch ideas, and how we manage to have busy lives and yet feed our children nutruitious not toxic (as I call it) food and get the rest of the family to eat it! PS. tell me your favorite cook books, and recipes also. You can never have enough of either.

Melissa,
I think what you are doing is wonderful. There are probably so many people who have Celiac and don't know it. It is not a well known condition. My friend's husband has it about as bad as Payson. I am going to forward your Blog to her. I am also going to tape your show on Wednesday. You go girl! I think you've found your calling.

Wow what an amazing women she is!!! Now this is the Girl to go to when you need advice or help on allergy's or food, she knows her stuff!! She's gotta, she's a mom! Melissa blows me away with all that she does in as day! With all the special meals she prepares, volunteering at the school, being a Mary Kay Consultant, and taking care of all the rest of her families needs, and she still finds the time to be there for all of her bestest friends when they need her!! I luv you Melissa!

rHI Melissa,
My mom forwarded me your blog from ABC's website.
We found out my middle daughter,2yrs old at the time, had a wheat allergy the day before last Thanksgiving. After a long year of trying to figure out what was wrong, and doctors telling me she was fine, just slightly anemic. Mommy intuition, I kept looking for an answer.
We finally had a random nurse at out health dept. tell us to have her test for Celiac. I had a friend who's family had it, and she directed us to Entro Lab online for testing.
Since, her test results came in our lives & diet have change drastically, but for the better. I now have a happy healthy 3 year old.
It was so hard at first, but now, we eat so much healthier and I love experimenting with different grains,(Garbanzo pancakes, Sorghum scones, Quinoa tortilla's!)
My whole family has switched to a gluten free diet at home. I have found I feel so much better on it. My husband even admits when he eats gluten his stomach feels upset. However, he still eats it whenever he can away from home.
Thank you for starting this blog. I am very excited for it!Especially for it being from a fellow Utahan, I live in Moab.I love your organizing tips. I don't by any thing with gluten any more but they are still great tips!!
Thanks again and I look forward to reading more!
